111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999.

Do I really need to contact a doctor?
Please only use the out-of-hours service if your medical condition is such that you are unable to wait until the surgery is open. The provision of an out-of-hours service is very expensive for local health authorities and resources are stretched by inappropriate use, with patients who really need attention potentially waiting longer.

Not sure which service to contact?
Check out our guide to the different services available from the NHS.
People in South Tyneside can now access GP services until 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays. This is for patients who find it difficult to attend during regular hours or whose conditions worsen and feel the need to be seen quickly.

You will be seen at another surgery in South Tyneside. When booking these appointments staff will give you the full address and postcode.

You MUST book ahead via this practice either in person or by phone Monday – Friday during surgery hours. After 6pm you can call NHS111 who will signpost you to the most appropriate service.

All routine appointments with a doctor, nurse or health care assistant can be accommodated. Healthcare staff who see and treat you will be from another practice.
